Jacques Hotteterre le Romain and his father Martin: A re- examination based on recently found documents.   Early Music,  vol. 21, no. 3, Aug93, 377-95
The history of the most recognized members of the Hotteterre family of woodwind makers, players, and composers is illuminated through notarial documents of the Minutier Central, Archives Nationales de France. Inventories of musical instruments and scores, and real estate and marriage contracts (1666-1763) include, for example, Jacques's marriage contract. This contract lists his instruments and library.
